Polar molecule - In chemistry, a polar molecule is a molecule in which the centers of positive and negative charge distribution do not converge. These molecules are characterized by a dipole moment which measures their polarity.

Alkaline hydrolysis - Alkaline hydrolysis is a chemical process in which a molecule is cleaved into two parts by the addition of a molecule of water in a solution with a pH greater than 7.

Peptide bond - A peptide bond is a chemical bond formed between two molecules when the carboxyl group of one molecule reacts with the amino group of the other molecule, releasing a molecule of water (H2O). This is a dehydration synthesis reaction, and usually occurs between amino acids.
